Spotlight on Melle Vasquez

Hello triathlon friends!

I decided to explore triathlons as a new year’s resolution this year.  I thought there were only half and iron distances, until I learned through someone at RUN BIKE SWIM that there were sprints and Olympic distances. This got really excited to know that a short distance triathlon could be a realistic goal for me!  I am a musician in a Cirque du Soleil show and the schedule can be a challenge, but I was still determined to complete at least one tri.rn

My previous experience was doing fairly easy bike rides around the red rock and Desert Shores areas, and a couple of 5K runs.  Nutritionally I feel as though I still have many things to learn….I saw a triathlon as a way to get leaner and in better shape, but I ended up gaining weight in the end!  I did the Rage this year, and was disappointed that the rough conditions canceled the swim, so I signed up to do the Lake Las Vegas women’s triathlon the following week.  rn

As of now, I’m still undecided as to whether or not to do Pumpkin Man.  And unfortunately, my work schedule does not allow me to participate in weekend events outside of vegas.  That being said, my training would take place during weekdays as well as weekend days.  If anyone does anything during the week please don’t hesitate to contact me.  I also play in coffee houses some Monday nights on the west side from time to time playing my own material, as well as acoustic pop cover songs.  rn

{mosimage}If you’d like to know my gig schedule, please don’t hesitate to contact me at mkvgtr1@Cox.net.  My website is currently under construction but does have some information about me at www.mellevasquez.com.  Also, if you have any diet/training tips I’d be happy to hear about them!  I also have information regarding the un-saddle, a bicycle seat basically designed without a nose by an ex-Tour de France rider who was experiencing discomfort caused by long distance riding.  rn
